Mike Conley was the best playing on the floor Monday night when the Memphis Grizzlies beat the LA Lakers 110-105. Conley scored 30 points and had five assists on the night, as the Grizzlies won their 24th game of the season.

LeBron James had a triple double in the loss, scoring 24 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out 11 assists. Brandon Ingram led all scorers in the game, dropping 32 points from 12-18 shooting.

The Los Angeles Lakers are doing exactly what they can’t afford to do, and that is to lose basketball games. Coming out of the All-Star break, the Lakers were sitting in 10th place. Now, after dropping two games in a row, the Lakers are 11th, and still 3.0 games back from the 8th and final playoff spot in the west.

The Lakers will be kicking themselves after not getting a win in their last two games, which were winnable matchups with the Pelicans and Grizzlies, two teams with losing records this season. Even with the support of Brandon Ingram, who scored 29 and 32 in the two losses, the Lakers were still unable to get a result, which should alarm most Laker fans. It seems as if there is little hope for this Lakers team this season. It appears that they simply don’t have the firepower to compete in the Western Conference this season.

The Lakers play the Pelicans again next, this time at home, representing the perfect opportunity for a win to get their season back to winning ways. LA hosts New Orleans on Wednesday, and will play the Bucks at the Staple Center Friday.
