OKC Thunder keep losing, could be 8th place in West by tonight
The Oklahoma City Thunder can’t seem to turn around their current slump. OKC has lost four games in a row, and has a 4-6 record in their last 10 games. Their negative streak of the Thunder has coincided with great basketball by the Spurs, Clippers, and Trail Blazers, causing Oklahoma City to tumble in the Western Conference standings.
Just a month ago, the Thunder were sitting in third place in the West, with a comfortable lead over the Rockets, and Blazers. Now, OKC finds themselves in fifth place, tied with teams in 6th-8th place.
The West could not be any closer. With the Thunder, Spurs, Jazz, and Clippers all tied with the same win percentage so far, the four teams are all deadlocked in the standings. This tightness means that any of these four teams have the possibility to be as high as the fifth place position, or as low as eighth place.
The hottest team of the bunch is the Spurs. San Antonio has a 9-1 record in the last 10 games, and are a team that seems to be peaking at the perfect time of the season. The Spurs have flourished at home, and are repping the second best home court record in the Western Conference, going 29-8 in 37 home games.
The Clippers have turned it up lately as well. Overshadowing the LA Lakers yet again, the Clippers have found a way to make the postseason, even after trading away their most productive player in Tobias Harris mid-season. The Clips have hit their stride recently as well, as LA is riding a three game win streak, winning eight of their last 10 games.
Expect more fireworks in the West as this hypercompetitive conference comes to a close in the next coming weeks.
