The Memphis Grizzlies have had a rough 2018-19 season, and it looks like the organization is ready to start the rebuilding process by cashing in on their most valuable assets. Point guard Mike Conley has been at the center of multiple trade negotiations, with the Utah Jazz said to be the most ambitious in the chase for Conley.
Sports Illustrated has reported that the Jazz have formally offered the Grizzlies guard Ricky Rubio and forward Derrick Favors for Mike Conley. Rubio and Favors are starters for the Jazz, and represent the huge interest that Utah has in Conley. Mike Conley is in his 12th year in the NBA, and is averaging 20.4 points and 6.9 assists per game this season. Conley would be a major upgrade for Rubio, bringing experience and composure to a team that is lacking these characteristics.
Mike Conley is not the only player on the Memphis roster that has been involved in trade rumors. Grizzlies center Marc Gasol has been linked to a move away from Memphis, with Toronto and Charlotte looking to be the most interested in the big man. Gasol is averaging 15.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game this season, and has proven himself as a highly influential player on both sides of the ball. Reports have suggested that the Raptors offered Kyle Lowry along with future draft picks for a Gasol/Conley package from the Grizzlies, which was turned down. Expect more offers to be made to the Grizzlies with the NBA trade deadline just over 24 hours away.
