The Denver Broncos have began their offseason workout regimen for their players as preparations for next season are already underway. Their is expected to be much change in the Broncos organization and team this season as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 6-10 campaign last year. Von Miller has made his own changes this offseason, adding 10+ pounds to his frame. This change has came to a surprise to many, as the 30-year-old Miller is coming off of his second biggest sack total of his career last season.
Denver will have no problem with the weight gain, as Miller has maintained his fitness while gaining the weight. Miller spoke on the weight gain, expressing his feelings on the matter, saying the following, “245, you can go just a little bit further with that. (At) 245 is where I want to be at”.
The star pass rusher made it clear that the weight was planned, and that this will help his game going into next season.
Despite the consecutive down seasons for Denver, Miller has maintained his high level of play. Miller recorded 14.5 sacks last season, and has recorded double digit sacks in seven of his eight seasons (all with the Broncos). Expect even more production from Miller this season, who looks to be adjusting his game to his age. In seasons past, Miller used his unreal speed on the edge to overwhelm linemen, collecting sack after sack due to his quickness. We might see a more powerful, more physical Miller next season with the extra weight. Either way, big things will be expected of Von Miller next season in Denver. The arrival of Joe Flacco, plus a top 10 pick in this year’s draft has created a buzz around the Broncos.
