Ed Reed was asked a number of questions at an event Saturday night, with one question in particular grabbing headlines. When asked about who the Baltimore Ravens would go with next season at the quarterback position, former Ravens safety and super bowl winner Ed Reed said that the Ravens are now “Definitely Lamar’s Team”, referring to Lamar Jackson being chosen over the veteran Joe Flacco.
Ed Reed was a legend in Baltimore, and his quotes will raise eyebrows from some fans. Reed played safety for 11 years for the Ravens, and collected 61 interceptions, 11 forced fumbles, and nine defensive touchdowns in 160 games. Reed and Flacco won a Super Bowl together in Baltimore (Super Bowl XLVII). Reed explained that Flacco still has the talent that it takes to win, suggesting that Flacco consider going to Jacksonville if he wants to win another Super Bowl. The Jaguars are having quarterback problems of their own, and will be looking to add a high level quarterback this offseason, with Blake Bortles and Cody Kessler unable to get anything going this season. With the defensive that the Jacksonville Jaguars have, there is no reason for this team to not be challenging in the AFC. With a veteran addition like Joe Flacco, this Jacksonville team could put themselves back on the map after an abysmal 5-11 season this year.
Other possible destinations for Joe Flacco are the Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins, and Miami Dolphins, as all of these teams are looking for a veteran, proven quarterback to come in and do a job. The Redskins seem the most likely for Flacco, as their run first style offense is something that Flacco will be used to from his time in Baltimore. Keep an eye on Joe Flacco this offseason, as his departure from Baltimore seems to be imminent.
